TThis in-person volunteering program is at corporate offices in Chennai, Coimbatore, and Madurai called as First Penguin Classes (FPC) Centres. Commit just three hours for minimum 4 Sundays between September & November 2025.

FAQ

Generic

  • What is FPC?

    FPC stands for 'First Penguin Classes'. It is a skill development program for parentless, single parented, and financially weak students. These students are part of our 'I am the Change' scholarship.

  • What happens in these FPC sessions?

    We train students on aptitude, communication skills and other soft skills with help from individuals like you.

  • Will I be given any Curriculum?

    Yes, we will give you teaching material.

  • What are the timings and duration for this program?

    Each session will be for 3 hours and 15 minutes including break. It happens  from 9.30 AM to 1 PM.

  • Can I choose the 4 Sundays I wish to volunteer?

    Here's how it works. After we have enough volunteers for each FPC Centre, we will create WhatsApp groups for each centre with volunteers. We will invite volunteers in the WhatsApp group for the upcoming Sunday session. If you're available for that Sunday, you can opt in. Please note, in your centre, we may need 2 or 3 volunteers for 1 Sunday. So, this will also be first come first serve basis.


    Overall, you can volunteer for minimum 4 Sundays.

  • Will I get to choose the FPC Centre?

    Yes, while signing up you can choose the area you want to volunteer in. Please note that we have signup limitations in each area. It will be first come first serve basis.

  • I don't know Tamil. Can I volunteer?

    Yes, you can volunteer if you can speak, write, and understand English.

  • What is Orientation Recording?

    'Orientation Recording' is a recorded video of the online webinar that has been conducted to explain this activity in detail and to clarify all queries of the volunteers.

  • How can I watch the orientation recording?

    Post your signup, you will receive the orientation recording link in email. Click on the link and please enter the requested basic information to watch the recording.

  • Why I should watch the orientation recording?

    You can understand the activity clearly if you watch the orientation.

  • Who are the beneficiaries?

    The beneficiaries of the FPC program are our 'I am the Change' scholarship students.

  • What is 'I am the Change' scholarship students?

    'I am the Change' is a scholarship initiative by Team Everest. Through it, Team Everest sponsors the under graduation of underprivileged students. You can learn more about it here.

  • What these students are studying?

    They are doing their under graduation course in various colleges in Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai & Bengaluru.

  • Which degrees these students are pursuing?

    Our students will be from Arts & Science, Engineering.

  • Which college year these students are from?

    The students for this batch's FPC are from first year, second year and third year.

  • Can I drop out in the middle of the program?

    We put in a lot of efforts to make this initiative happen. So, we request you not to drop out in between the program. However, in case of any unavoidable situations, you can drop out from the program anytime. Notify us by emailing to volunteer at teameverest dot ngo

  • Will I get volunteering certificate?

    Yes, we will send you a volunteering e-certificate appreciating your efforts upon successfully completing minimum 4 in-person training sessions for students.
